Research at ChristianaCare
Advancing research in key areas including cancer and heart disease.
A member of the Delaware IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (DE-INBRE), ChristianaCare shares a five-year $23.5 million grant funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIH-NIGMS) and the State of Delaware. The DE-INBRE program advances research in key areas including cancer and heart disease, bringing cutting-edge treatments to improve the health of Delawareans. The INBRE grant, first awarded in April 2009 to CCHS, supports cancer, cardiovascular disease and neuroscience research programs.
The purpose of the Delaware INBRE grant is to continue building a self-sustaining basic and translational biomedical research capability in Delaware focusing, expanding and strengthening the pipeline of biomedical research by funding infrastructure, faculty development, mentorship and other resources.
Supported by a grant from the National Institutes of Health – National Institute of General Medical Sciences Institutional Development Award (NIH-NIGMS: P20 GM103446) and the state of Delaware.
And serves to build academic and research channels in Delaware by creating student and researcher opportunities involving a diverse cohort of students and researchers in biomedical exploration. For more information, please visit de-inbre.org
The Delaware INBRE Summer Scholars Program (DISSP) is an undergraduate summer research program sponsored through the NIH and funded to the Delaware INBRE program. In a partnership with six state institutions, including ChristianaCare, Delaware Technical Community College, Delaware State University, Nemours/Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children, the University of Delaware and Wesley College, selected undergraduate students are able to carry out independent research projects while studying full-time under a mentor to gain knowledge of research techniques and making unique scholarly or original impacts to the biomedical sciences. DISSP runs each summer from June – August. For more information, read this informative ChristianaCare News article.
