For Health Professionals
Conferences & Teaching
The Emergency Department is committed to providing our residents a top-quality education. A core lecture series, subspecialty conferences and grand rounds are key components of a rigorous academic curriculum. They feature nationally recognized members of our own faculty, as well as renowned visiting professors. Senior residents spend parts of two months as a designated teaching resident in the Emergency Department. Each week, all residents are required to attend four hours of lectures and review assignments.
Our experienced faculty take a friendly, enthusiastic approach to teaching and mentoring. Residents benefit from the faculty's accessibility afforded by this community-based hospital setting.
The Jefferson Connection
Christiana Care hospitals and family medicine centers comprise Delaware's medical school and the largest teaching affiliate of Jefferson Medical College. As such, residents play an important role in teaching students at all levels in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Many of Christiana Care's 1,300-member Medical/Dental Staff hold academic appointments at Jefferson and participate with Jefferson faculty in joint conferences and research projects.
