Residency Programs
Dental Oncology
This program prepares you to treat patients who have cancer-particularly cancers of the mouth, pharynx and larynx.
You will learn how various cancer treatments affect patients and alter dental care. Pre-treatment, dental intervention and active dental treatment to lessen the side effects of cancer treatment are covered. You also will learn how to support patients and maintain their dental health after cancer treatment.
As part of the Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Center at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, you will interact directly with patients who have cancer, including:
- Examining patients to refine your ability to identify normal and abnormal manifestations of the disease.
- Taking part in all three treatment phases.
- Participating in head and neck multidisciplinary conferences to discuss what stage of cancer the patients are facing, how the disease will be treated and what types of clinical trials are available.
